Space, the final frontier

Be warned: These are not political links (well, almost all of them aren't) . One of the things that I'm really encouraged by is government subsidies to further the development of science. As anyone who's ever played those "develop your civilization" strategy games will tell you, exploration and technology is an all important factor. Even if there's no immediate payoff, knowing more about how stuff works isn't a bad thing.

Okay, okay. The next one is a very tenuous link, I know. But satellites being used to monitor a "pay as you go" driving plan for roads and such has some interesting components. To say the least, it' a definite push for public transportation. Is this policy crazy talk? If you're an American Politician, definitely. A bad way to go? I'm not so sure.
