Brunswick News Tripleheader

Game Two: Frequent HR commentator and fellow Island City blogger liberalandproud points out that one of our local organizations, GlynnPeace is planning a protest in front of our Congressman's Brunswick offices tomorrow, and the Glynn County GOP doesn't want it to happen. Now, y'all know my thoughts on the War, and y'all probably know my thoughts on the effectiveness of protests, but I just find it fascinating that the Glynn County GOP was able to pre-emptively turn a Peace Rally into Pro-War Press before the fact. Ouch.

Oh, how did they do it? How did the GOP convince the utterly unbiased Brunswick News to feature a photo of GOP head Kevin Gough above the fold denouncing a peace protest? That must have been some arm-twisting.(eyes rolling so much I think I lost a contact)

Andre over at Georgia Politics Unfiltered posted the article today.

I saw that, too. Great minds and stuff....

As far as the News putting this above the fold, I wonder if GlynnPeace even considered sending out a press release outlining their activities and beliefs specifically relating to this event. I bet that would have been in the paper day before yesterday, above the fold, with picture if they had provided it.

If you don't know how to deal with the media, you will end up looking bad. Above the fold.

Got an email from GlynnPeace and they said this was a rousing success. Reporters from two or three different papers, about 40 people marching in protest - including folks who drove from as far away as Jesup, only about 4 counterprotesters.

We should read about it, probably above the fold, tomorrow. No news yet on whether anybody at GlynnPeace brought a camera themselves....

Nobody brought a camera to a successful and well-attended event? Sounds familiar . . .
