The Greatest Thing on the Internet

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a big MySpace guy. I have an account and I look at it every now and then but otherwise it falls largely into misuse. But this wonder of the MySpace website is well worth visiting. It's called Minisode. It's a website that has condensed versions of all of your favorite TV shows of yesteryear. For example, I saw a 6 minute version (including credits) of the episode of the Facts of Life where Tootie gets drunk. It was incredible. This is almost as good as the fan project telling the entire Macross story in 20 minutes using the recaps, previews, and the closing of episode 36 of Robotech.

What would you like to see condensed versions of?

The Simpsons episode when Bart makes a fake ID and takes a Spring Break road trip to the Knoxville World's Fair 14 years too late.

How about a condensed version of the product specs i'm supposed to be testing on/for in the next two weeks?

/yeah, i know, bringing Real Life onto the intartubes...

//I'd be entirely less cranky if the company who'm i'm currently destroying my liver for was coughing up for a hotel room for me, rather than expecting me to drive from Athens to the GA Dome for 3 days...

///for the record, the two product specs i'm speaking of are 100 and 300 pages, respectively. I've surprisingly got other things to do than review 400 pages of technical documents when the product i spent 7+ months testing is working nearly flawlessly in an open beta state...

I want the Al Gore doll that says, "You are hearing me talk."

The really scary part of watching that episode was the realization that it has now been 25 years since the wonderful event that brought the world to Knoxville. I do believe my fascination with all things Japanese started in their pavillion at the fair. It was a magical time. Granted, the whole are went to sh*t soon thereafter, but it was great while it lasted.

I'd like to see the episode of Northern Exposure when Chris flings a piano...or the one when he experiences the democratic system by not voting. Beautiful television.

After thinking about it, here's a top 5 for you:

5. Any of the Cosby Show. It has its moments but really hasn't stood the test of time.

4. The rest of season 2 of Twin Peaks.

3. The poker game where Coach and his buddy try to cheat Harry Anderson in Cheers.

2. "As God is my witness, I thought that turkeys could fly." WKRP

1. The funniest thing I ever saw on TV. The last episode of Newhart. "Honey, I had the strangest dream..." I'm glad they taped in front of a studio audience because I was laughing so hard I would've missed the sweater zinger if they hadn't had to stop a moment to let the audience die down.

I'd like to see a minisode of this presidential election cycle. You could put all the important statements in a five-minute recap.

You would need five minutes? I didn't think we had five minutes of "important statements" yet.

Pat, I'm thinking more about a one-word answers to issues from all the candidates, but I take your point. The empty suits we see in the debates may as well be talking in "Charlie Brown"-speak: Wah wah wah.
