A Bit of Optimism for the Middle East

We're going to play a little game. I want you to read the linked op-ed piece without reading who the author is. Then go back and see who wrote it. I'll post the rest of what I have to say in the comments.

Sometimes I think there is no possible hope for any sort of piece in the Middle East. Then I read Qaddafi of all people calling for an end to violence and a one-govenrment solution to the Israel/Palestine mess that doesn't come off as a one-sided piece of propaganda and can't help but feel optimistic. Never in my life did I think I'd say this but Qaddafi is right. It makes no sense to try and maintain separate governments. If Israelis and Palestinians are going to share the land, they need to work together to get things done. If Mr. Pan-Am himself thinks there can be a real and lasting peace in Israstine, I'm compelled to give it the benefit of the doubt.
