Right the Hell There

..And there, and there, and there, and...

You remember the incredulous question posed by one Brit Hume of Fox "Where's the Oil?" News:

I'll let Varg and Jeff handle that one.

Yeah, you'll be hearing about that one for a long time.

So many people are losing money. It will be impossible to calculate. I used to work beach services and each of those little lounge chairs goes for $50 a day. And that's not including the umbrella which puts it around $75. Those things are on every condo up and down Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and Perdido Key.

Why? I can't speak for Hume, but when I first heard about this spill I was under the impression landfall would occur within a couple of weeks if that. Now... two months later... we're starting to see that landfall. I don't think it's unreasonable to have questioned where it was in the meantime.

What do you mean, two months later, we're starting to see landfall? Two months later, we're seeing landfall in Florida, and we've been seeing it for some time now. Please try to keep in mind that this stuff has been on shore in Louisiana for weeks and weeks.

And that's why what Brit Hume says matters. Because you just told me we're starting to see landfall of oil. No one needs to go back and rewrite history if it gets written incorrectly in the first place.

Hume is a hack, and this is one of those things that expose him as "not a journalist." Anyone could have seen where the oil was at that point in time. Experts knew where it was and where it was going to be. They told us all of that.

But Hume used his position as a pundit to engage in a deliberate and partisan campaign to downplay this disaster at the outset, and question the credibility of scientists and experts who divulged information contrary to his political beliefs and interests, as well as those of his target audience.

That's why "Where's the Oil" goes right in there with "we will be welcomed as liberators," "mission accomplished," "Dow 30,000," "Not One Drop," and "Drill, baby, drill."

I posted a youtube video of the oil on the beach at my place. I wish Brit Hume was all we had to worry about.

Yeah, you rite.

But one thing I am worried about is people downplaying how bad this really is.
