"But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope."
Hmmmm. In some places they riot over football. When I was going to UT in the 1970s, the police had to close off about a mile long section of a street called "The Strip" (Cumberland Ave./Hwy 70) that runs thru and beside a portion of UT's campus. The students were rioting the NIGHT BEFORE the UT/Alabama game.During my life time, the only person to die in a riot in Knoxville was a UT student who fell off the back of a car during a riot celebrating a football victory in the late 1960s.Football is why Southerners riot.
True. And there was the Great Lane Escape from Knoxville earlier this year. Lord knows, we came close in Athens a few times. Every once in a great while, the couch burning gets a little out of hand. But imagine how bad it would be if we didn't have football to distract us from August to January?
